Hookin' away

Two of my latest crochet projects:  

The purple kerchief is something that I made using a very soft varigated yarn from the Vanna's Choice collection - Purple Mist.  And I don't usually do this, but I have kept this one for myself.  This is another project that I did without a pattern... I spend hours 'searching' for just the thing I want to make but never end up actually using a pattern.  The next time I wear this over my purple sweater I'll try to remember to take a picture so you can get a better idea of the yarn varigation.

The blue scarf is going to be a gift for a girl that I work with.  She's a Special Education teacher and has a heart of gold.  I will put it in her mailbox anonymously with a little note that reminds her how "warm she makes others feel", knowing all the while how warm this will make her feel.  : )

I loved using the chunkier yarn for a change.  Unfortunately I've already thrown out the label so I'll have to jot it down the next time I'm out buying yarn.

I made two of these this year and gave them as gifts to some of my gal pals that appreciate this kinda thing.

Simple crochet project that I did sans pattern... which is how I often hook.

It's coming!!

2011 ! 
And I'm getting ready for my attempt at Project 365.  In case you have not yet heard of P365, it's a photo journaling project where you're supposed to take one photo a day for the whole year.

I made it, for the most part, to the beginning of October this past year.  I hope to do a much better job this year!!  If you're interested you can take a look at my P365 -  HERE.

I found that last year it worked a little better for me to compile a weekly recap in a digi-scrap layout.  My plan this year is to upload my daily photo to a Shutterfly site and then weekly create my scrap page.  I'm looking for fans and supporters so I'd love for you to become a Blog Buddie -- just click on the 'follow' button to the right.

Shimmery Winter

These 3 LOs were pages that I did today while I spent hours on hold with the credit union to try and refinance our mortgage.  The summer fun LO is my favorite.  I used the Enchanted Studio Scraps collab kit called Happily Ever After.

This is put together using a new technique in Adobe Photoshop that I played with tonite -- the torn paper hole.

Sweaty drinks or hot bowls

I've got the answer! A crocheted cotton coaster!!



I can't tell you how many of these I've made. They're a great way to use up "what's left" of a skein. They're made of a cotton yarn (I like Sugar 'n Cream brand) that is totally washable and absorbent. As you can see the color doesn't have to be a washed out dull color, there are some very vibrant yarns.

Anyway, these coasters work up quick when you're in a hurry or just want a little something to do to pass some time. They also come in handy for saving furniture from a hot or cold bowl of something good. You can find tons of free patterns on the web, just Google it!

This will be my little spot to show off my cre8ive side.

I have become an addict of digital scrapbooking.

I have always loved taking pictures, starting way back in the 70s when I got a polaroid camera one Christmas. I have made my way thru the slim 110, then the good ol' 35mm and now I've gone digital. Of course digital is the ultimate in that you can snap, snap, snap and there is no worry of "wasting a picture", you just delete the unwanted. OR maybe you don't, maybe you turn that less than perfect picture into a cre8ive LO for a scrapbook!

My family loves to whine and fuss about "there's Teresa with her camera in our face" but when the prints show up everyone wants to see and wants a copy! So I take the fuss in stride and keep right on clicking away, whether they smile or not. ;) Of course a smile usually breaks thru with everyone at some point.

I also love to crochet.

A craft that was taught to me when I was about 10, by my Aunt Becky. I used to just crochet random patternless projects that never really amounted to more than maybe a blanket for Barbie. Today however I can get quite cre8ive with my hookin'. My current project is a hooded baby blanket for one of my co-workers -- his wife had a baby girl in the beginning of December. (Yes, I know, I need to get it finished!!)

I have crocheted a variety of items including toys, dishcloths, bath scrubbies, tote bags, baby caps for newborns. I was once in an online crochet group where we would crochet squares that would be mailed to others who pieced them together to make afghans that were donated to various causes. Most every thing I've ever crocheted was given as a gift.

I also like to do some watercolor painting but it takes more time and space than I usually can commit to. I do have a photo of watercolor painting I did once when I was taking a class.

The painting is of the Coast Guard's base chapel in Kodiak, AK. I gave the painting as a gift to Tim & Uta White when we left Kodiak. Tim was the base Chaplain and he & his wife were also friends of ours.
